Hockey Accelerators Pre-season Foundation Programme 2022 

Hockey Accelerators is back for its first programme of 2022! The Pre-season Foundation programme is a great opportunity for everyone to get back into the groove of all thing’s hockey before the start of the season.

The programme will be led by Canterbury Hockey’s new Community Participation Manager Joe Piggott, with the support of various Canterbury representative and development coaches during five sessions.

Please be aware that this programme will require a 'My Vaccine Pass' for any attendees over the age of 12.


Purpose: To provide players with high quality coaching that is focused on developing essential (basic) skills in preparation for the upcoming hockey season.

Content: The skills covered will include the likes of ball carrying & elimination, passing & receiving, defending concepts, and goal scoring. Specialist goalkeeper specific training will also be provided and integrated into field player sessions.

Groups: Athletes will be split into different groups depending on their current school year level. The groups are as follows:

  • Level 1: Years 5 and 6
  • Level 2: Years 7 and 8
  • Level 3: Years 9 to 13.


Level 1 and 2 will train on Wednesday afternoons and Level 3 will train on Thursday afternoons.

  • Level 1: Wednesdays – 2nd Feb, 9th Feb, 16th Feb, 23rd Feb, 2nd Mar – 4:00pm-5:15pm
  • Level 2: Wednesdays – 2nd Feb, 9th Feb, 16th Feb, 23rd Feb, 2nd Mar – 5:30pm-6:45pm
  • Level 3: Thursdays – 3rd Feb, 10th Feb, 17th Feb, 24th Feb, 3rd Mar – 4:15pm-5:30pm

All trainings will be held at Nunweek Park.


The cost of this programme is $125.00. Please note, this includes the cost of a Hockey Accelerators training shirt. If you already own a training shirt and do not require another, you may register for $100.00.
