Canterbury Hockey
The Canterbury Hockey Association is responsible for the administration of hockey in Canterbury. We aim to:
- Offer the widest possible opportunities for all people to participate in the game of hockey and to make hockey a readily accessible sport for all.
- Provide all participants with the opportunity to excel by developing their game to their chosen or actual potential.
- Provide a healthy social environment for participants and others associated with the game of hockey.
We are a well governed and managed non-profit sporting incorporated society based at Nunweek Park, Harewood, Christchurch. Our members are made up of affiliated clubs and schools. We rely on our operational committees to help us deliver our game at Nga Puna Wai, Nunweek Park, Marist Park and the Waimakariri Hockey Stadium as well as a number of junior venues throughout the region. We have over 20 representative teams playing at National Tournaments during the year.
Constitution
The document that outlines the status and governance structure of the Canterbury Hockey Association is its Constitution. At the 2017 Annual
General Meeting held in February 2018, Members unanimously approved the adoption of an amended Constitution and this can be viewed in the link below. The main changes made to the previous Constitution and the reasons are noted in the Explanation Document provided to all Members as per the link below.
Strategic Plan
Canterbury Hockey Association is pleased to share our latest Strategic Plan (2024-2029):
The development of this plan included a thorough consultation process to clearly understand the Canterbury Hockey communities desired direction over the next five years.
We believe the process we have followed to develop this Strategic Plan will help guide Canterbury Hockey through the next phase of our journey to serve our wonderful community, while producing an amazing hockey product for everyone.
Policies And Procedures
Canterbury Hockey operates according to policies and procedures which are approved by the Board and implemented by the association’s employees and authorised representatives. Where appropriate, these policies are posted on our website to ensure our hockey community is potentially aware of their obligations and compliance requirements.
