Division 1
Division 1 is a competitive senior club grade within Canterbury Hockey’s Open Grade competition structure.
This grade provides a strong level of weekly club hockey and is an important part of the pathway for players working towards Canterbury Premier League, CPL. It is also a quality competition for experienced players who have previously played at higher levels and want to continue competing in a strong club environment.
Division 1 often includes a mix of secondary school players, university students, developing senior players, and experienced senior players, including those returning from higher grades. This creates a competitive and valuable playing environment for players at different stages of their hockey journey.

Team format: 11 aside
Field size: Full sized artificial turf
Grades: Men’s and women’s grades
Game day: Saturday
Game length: 4 x 15 minute quarters
Breaks: 2 minute intervals between quarters 1 and 2, and quarters 3 and 4, with a 5 minute half time interval between quarters 2 and 3
