Platinum
The Canterbury Hockey Platinum Division is a youth club hockey competition for secondary school aged players. Players represent their Canterbury Hockey clubs in this division, making it an important step in the club hockey pathway.
Platinum is an exciting progression point for young players. It is the first Canterbury Hockey grade where players are exposed to full field, 11 aside hockey. It is also the first Canterbury Hockey managed competition in the pathway where teams play for competition points and progress towards finals, following on from the junior grades where the focus remains on development, participation, and the Balance is Better philosophy.
The Platinum Division supports players as they transition from junior hockey into youth club hockey, providing a competitive environment where they can continue to develop their skills, game understanding, teamwork, and connection to their club.
Under the Canterbury Hockey Rules and Regulations, Year 9 and Year 10 players who play club hockey are required to play in the Platinum Division. The grade is an under 18 competition for secondary school aged players, with players moving into Open Grade senior hockey once they leave secondary school.
