Mike Greer Homes Mini Sticks Y3/4

Year 3 and 4 Mini Sticks hockey is the first opportunity for players to take part in a Canterbury Hockey winter competition. This grade introduces players to structured hockey in a small-sided format, with a focus on learning the basics of the game, being active, and enjoying their first competition experience.

For many players, Mini Sticks is their first step from introductory hockey into regular weekly games.

Competition format

Season: Winter season

School year: Year 3 and 4

Grade: Mixed grade

Team format: 6 aside, no goalkeeper

Field size: Approximately quarter field

Game length: 12-minute thirds, with 3-minute breaks

Game days: Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings
