Canterbury Hockey Competition Pathway

Junior Hockey


Fun Sticks:

  • 12 week hockey programme run during term 2 and 3
  • Designed for children aged 5-6 years (school Year 1&2). 
  • The programme is run through our clubs, so contact us for more info.


Mini Sticks:


  • Winter Season 
  • Year 3 & 4
  • Mixed Grade
  • 6-aside (no Goal Keeper)
  • 1/4 field
  • 2x 18 minute halves, 2 minute halftime
  • Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings



Kiwi Sticks 7-a-side:

  • Winter Season
  • Year 5 & 6
  • 7-aside (6-a-side in No Goalkeeper grade)
  • 1/2 field
  • 3 x 15 minute periods, 2 x minute intervals
  • Saturday mornings
  • 2023 Start Date: 6th May


Kwik Sticks 7-a-side:

  • Winter Season
  • Year 7 & 8
  • 7-aside (Including Goal Keeper)
  • 1/2 field
  • 3 x 15 minute periods, 2 x minute intervals
  • Saturday mornings

Platinum Hockey

  • Winter Season
  • 11-aside
  • Club Hockey Teams
  • Years 9-13
  • Full sized field
  • Sunday

Secondary School Hockey

  • Winter Season
  • 11-aside
  • School Hockey Teams
  • Years 9-13
  • Full sized field
  • Secondary School League: Girls - Wednesday after school, Boys - Friday after school
  •  Secondary School Premier - Friday after school


Club Hockey (Open Grade)

  • Winter Season
  • 11-aside
  • Full sized field
  • Premier League - Saturday
  • Division 1 - Saturday 
  • Sunday League - Sunday
  • Midweek Open - Men Monday, Women Tuesday
  • Grass Hockey - Saturday 


Summer Hockey

Summer Hockey 6-aside:

  • Summer Season (Pre and Post-Christmas)
  • 6-aside (No Goal Keeper)
  • Mixed Teams
  • Half sized field (quarter for Junior grades)
  • Monday and Tuesday Afternoons/Evenings

Grades:

  • Junior years 3/4
  • Junior years 5/6
  • Intermediate years 7/8
  • Secondary school years 9-13 
  • Adult Novice - No more than 3 regular hockey players
  • Adult Intermediate - 3 or more regular hockey players
  • Adult Experienced - 3 or more players that play Winter Division 2 or above

Summer Hockey Adult 11-aside:

  • Summer Season (Pre and Post-Christmas)
  • 11-aside
  • Full sized field
  • Friday evenings
  • Teams must be mixed gender with at least 4 people from each gender on the field at all times
  • Players do not have to belong to a club but must be secondary school aged or older


Masters Club Hockey

  • Summer Season (Pre and Post-Christmas)
  • 11-aside
  • Full sized field
  • Thursday Evenings
