Skills, comradery, trophies and elbow bumps at the finals
September 22, 2021
Despite the challenges associated with holding games in Alert Level 2, we managed to have a successful round of finals matches, with plenty of skills, comradery, trophies, celebrations and elbow bumps on display, ending the winter season on a high note.
The Level 2 restrictions meant we had to limit spectator numbers, but these restrictions were also what prompted us to look into alternative ways to involve supporters and the wider hockey community in the finals. Thanks to CelloSport, we were able to livestream 10 matches being played on Ngā Puna Wai turf 1 and it was well-received, with thousands of views over the four days of matches.
Thanks also to our wonderful community of coaches, managers, officials and supporters who helped make the finals such a great success.
A big thank you to Geoff Soper for taking photos of the games that were played at Ngā Puna Wai. You can view the photo albums on our Facebook page.
