A seven year drought was ended two Saturday's ago, as Carlton Redcliffs won the President’s Shield for the first time since 2013, after a 1-0 victory over Avon confirmed them as top of the Polytan Canterbury Premier League (CPL) with two rounds remaining. Chris Goldsbury scored the only goal of the game in the third quarter, finishing off a Keeley Legge pass that caught the Avon defence off guard. Harewood claimed the Rosebowl on Saturday afternoon with an exciting victory over Marist, securing top spot with a round to play.
The Hunters headed into the match knowing a point would secure the silverware for the first time since 2017, and Jessie Anderson put them ahead with a deflection from a penalty corner.
