LEAGUE LEADERS ON BRINK
LEAGUE LEADERS ON BRINK
August 24, 2020
League leaders Carlton Redcliffs and Harewood have put themselves on the brink of the league titles, both extending their leads to seven points with only three rounds remaining.
The top of the table men’s match up had plenty riding on it, with Redcliffs heading into the match with a four point lead over Marist, who in second place looked like the only team with a chance to peg the front runners back.
After a tight opening quarter where Marist had the majority of the possession, Redcliffs flipped the game on it’s head with a goal 30 seconds into the second quarter, a Willy Davidson rocket finding an un-marked Chris Goldsbury to deflect home.
The cards then started to find their way out of the umpires pockets, with both teams having guys sent to the bin. With the half coming to an end, Redcliffs again found space in behind the Marist defence, Tom Mouldey linking with Goldsbury who miss-trapped past the goalkeeper to double the lead.
