REWARD FOR BURNSIDE
July 26, 2020
Burnside High School claimed their first win in the Canterbury Secondary School Premier (SSP) competition on Friday night, as their girls team picked up a well deserved 5-1 win over St. Andrew’s College.
Having performed well across the opening three games without reward, Burnside finally finished on the right side of the scoreboard, which sees them jump into fifth on the table, and equal on points with fourth placed St. Margaret’s.
Captain Payton Anderson was on fire in front of goal, scoring four times, two coming from penalty corners and two from the field. Charlotte Lambie added a fifth for Burnside as they sealed an emphatic victory.
Christ’s College continue to lead the boys competition, overcoming a resilient Timaru Boys side to finish the weekend as the only unbeaten team in the competition, increasing their lead to five points and holders of the Connetics Shield once again.
