The Canterbury Hockey Association (CHA) delivers a highly successful representative program at Junior/Primary levels.
Our Primary A teams attend National Tournaments, Hatch Cup (Boys) and Collier Trophy (Girls) while our Primary B teams generally head to Rotorua to the McGrath Tournament. Our Primary Development Teams attend the South Island Festival of Hockey.
This year the Primary A girls were unbeaten at Collier Trophy and finished off a fantastic week in Tauranga comfortably beating Auckland 2-0 in the final. The Primary A boys headed to Auckland to defend the Hatch Cup they won in 2016, but unfortunately lost a couple of key games and ended up losing to their arch-rivals South Canterbury in the battle for 5th place. The Primary B boys and girls both won the McGrath Tournament in Rotorua, the boys beating Bay of Plenty B in their final and the girls sharing the trophy with Northland B after a draw at the completion of drop-offs. The Primary Development boys won the South Island Festival of Hockey and the Development girls finished second.
